A trip across the plains in 1858 /by Richard Thomas Ackley, 1848-[1865].

The journal describes an 1858 journey from Sidney, Fremont County, Iowa, to California by way of Nebraska City, the Platte River, Fort Kearney, Fort Laramie, Fort Bridger, Echo Cañon, Salt Lake City; and accounts of his stays in Salt Lake City, Camp Floyd, and Millersville. Ackley traveled with Thomas A. Atkins, Jim S. Packard, and Oliver Scoggins, who left the party July 20 for the Pikes Peak gold field.
